Server Rules

While you are welcome to join us on Discord to help others, be helped, or chat casually, we have imposed the following rules in order to maintain a cordial channel atmosphere. Please read them carefully before signing on:

  1. Be polite and civil
Attacking/harassing other users or using condescending language etc. is not tolerated. If it’s going to upset, provoke or offend another user, it contravenes this rule.
  2. No trolling – be sensible
Users come here for genuine advice, so give it to them. Intentionally false or misleading advice isn’t allowed. The inverse is also true – trolling for advice is banned. This goes double for the PC building and tech support channels.
  3. No piracy or grey-market software keys
No piracy or so-called “grey-market” software keys. This includes suggesting, hinting, or in any way implying to someone that piracy or the use of these licenses is an option. If a key is abnormally cheap (think $10-30), it is probably one of these, and is forbidden on the Buildapc Discord server.
  4. No spamming or annoying behaviour
Spamming is forbidden. This can include – but isn’t limited to – all forms of advertising and referral, use of link shorteners, spamming, unsolicited DMs, begging and abuse of image uploading. In voice channels, this includes soundboards, yelling, playing music, or continuous channel switching. If you have to ask, don’t post it.
  5. No NSFW content
This is a SFW Discord. NSFW content is not allowed. This includes – but isn’t limited to – usernames, avatars, linked content, overtly sexual conversation and the sexualization of minors. Again, if you have to ask, don’t bother.
  6. No inappropriate usernames
This includes names that are hard to tag, impersonate another user, hoist your username in the members list to advertise, or are offensive, as well as excessive username changes. Hard to tag names will be assigned a nickname. Offensive names will be kicked. While in the help channels please appear online to facilitate being tagged by other users.
  7. Moderators may apply discretion where necessary
While mods will try to follow these rules as closely as they can, no set of rules can cover every eventuality. If necessary, they will take action so the server can remain a friendly place
